How to Pay: Please send your non-refundable initial deposit ($400) and second installment ($600) to the address below on or before May 31, 2007. TOS cannot accept money orders or personal checks. Please use a BANK DRAFT or CHECK from a reputable US bank made out to Tagalog On Site. (Note: Please do not make out the check to simply “TOS” as banks in the Philippines will refuse it.) Should an emergency situation arise and TOS is forced to cancel the program, we will give you a full refund. The balance of $1,598 should be paid on the first day of the program. Balahadia Application Deadline: Tagalog On Site is now taking applications for its Summer Program and seeks serious participants who are at least 18 years of age. College/graduate students and professionals are welcome to apply. There is NO deadline for applications but TOS seeks to fill the slots available on a first-come, first-served basis. Accepted applicants have to pay the initial deposit of $400 to hold their place. The Summer Program can accommodate a total of 25 participants. Applications may be completed online at the TOS website www.tagalogonsite.org Grants: Students who intend to take the Summer or Fall Programs for audit or academic credit may be eligible for Freeman Grants. Please visit the institute of International Education (IIE) http://www.iie.org/pgms/freeman-asia website for details on eligibility and application procedures. Academic Credit: Starting Summer 2007, students who wish to take the program for credit in their home colleges/universities may cross enroll with TOS’ partner St. Scholastica’s College, Manila (www.ssc.edu.ph). Applicants wishing to avail of this option should email the TOS program director at tagalog@pldtdsl.net for details. Summer Program Sites: The TOS Summer Program will be held in Los Baños, the province of Laguna. TOS participants will be accommodated at the SEARCA Guesthouse within the University of the Philippines, Los Baños (UPLB) campus for the duration of the program. The SEARCA Guesthouse was built by the Japanese government to house visiting international scholars. Accomodations will be two to three students per room, air-conditioned with private toilet/bath. All meals will be provided. The UPLB campus is safe, readily accessible to Manila (2 hour drive), and is at the scenic foothills of Mt. Makiling, surrounded by farms and forests. The UPLB campus has its own university police that provides 24-hour security and is visible on campus. For medical needs, TOS students can go to the UP Los Baños infirmary, a short five-minute ride from the SEARCA Guesthouse. There are also two hospitals in the university town of Los Baños that are readily accessible. Participants will visit various communities and areas of interest in Manila and in the provinces of Laguna, Quezon, Batangas, Pampanga and Zambales. The optional Cordillera trip will include Banaue, Batad, and Sagada. The Fall Program: TOS will offer its Fall Program if there are 15 or more applicants who apply and send in their deposits by June 15, 2007. The Fall Program follows the same curriculum, itinerary, and program fees as the Summer Program. The Fall Program runs from mid-September to mid-November 2007. Interested applicants should complete the online application at the TOS website www.tagalogonsite.org Private Language Tutorials: When the Summer Program is not in session, TOS language instructors are available for individual or group tutorials for Filipino/Tagalog. Tutorials are for all levels- beginning, intermediate and advanced. Rates vary depending on the number of learners and the length of study.
